Don Tracy: Chicago's Bloody Weekend Exposes Stratton’s Failed Leadership
SPRINGFIELD — Four people were killed and at least 20 others were wounded in shootings across Chicago this weekend, including a drive-by shooting in Humboldt Park where an assailant opened fire on a crowd gathered outdoors, injuring six people, two critically.
"This is totally unacceptable,” said Republican US Senate Candidate Don Tracy. “For years, career politicians like Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton have embraced a soft-on-crime agenda that weakened accountability, undermined law enforcement, and let too many dangerous criminals roam our streets. When government stops backing law enforcement, law-abiding families pay the price.
“Lt Governor Stratton says she wants to take her leadership model, the 'Illinois Blueprint,' to Washington. Voters should look at this weekend and ask themselves whether this is the blueprint the US needs.
"Government's first responsibility is to protect its citizens. That means backing law enforcement, prosecuting criminals, and making it clear there are consequences for those who terrorize our neighborhoods.
"We don’t need another social justice experiment. We need common sense leaders who will keep it simple by backing police, standing with victims, and putting family ahead of political ideology. It's not that complicated."
